Notes from New York

Artsource spent last week in New York attending art fairs, galleries, private collections and museum shows. Here are a few things we liked:

IMG_0511            wholesale jerseys             wholesale mlb jerseys           The Armory Show, Pier 94

AS 9392 Mother sm   wholesale jerseys China Amy Sillman Mother, 2009 oil on canvas, 51 x 45″

Well-established painter Amy Sillman will have a solo show in New York in April.

10.Schoener Goetterfunken(2009)Brothers fly from your seats Brueder, fliegt von euren Sitzen-1   Sebastiaan Bremer Schoener Goetter X, 2010  acrylic and inks on C print, 10 x 10″

A wonderful visit to Sebastiaan Bremer’s studio…this new series of works – hand-painted family photographs. Joyful, beautifully crafted.  Sebastiaan is working on some from this series in much larger scale as well as other larger scale works referencing Brazil.

MO-019-07 Halting Site, N11, Co. Wexford_lr                                  Mairead O’hEocha Halting site, N11, Co. Wexford, 2007  oil on canvas

What a find…first show in the US.  Mairead’s entire show sold out.  Extraordinarily beautiful paintings, small and still affordable.

Baie du Mont Saint-Michel I, 2009   Sze Tsung Leong Baie du Mont Saint-Michel, 2009  chromogenic color print 14 x 24 and 28 x 48

Truly a global artist; Leong was born in Mexico City to British and Malaysian parents. By way of LA and Berkeley, he lives and works today in New York. Images from all over the world focusing on where earth and sky meet – some very urban other’s more landscape driven.  Displayed in a group, all of Leong’s images share the same horizon line.  Leong is one of a very few artists who still use film…and to boot, he even prints them himself.

Tegeder_2010em_Mobile 3   Danielle Tegeder Untitled (Wire Mobile), 2010  copper, stainless steel, stained glass and ceramic

From her solo exhibition at the Volta fair, Tegeder whose works on paper we have always loved is now working in sculpture. Her “Library of Abstract Sound” she combined abstract drawings, sculpture (new for her) and video in an exploration of sound and form.

RC1028_Rebecca Chamberlain        Ejemplo Rebecca Chamberlain, Main Stairs: Lescaze Townhouse, MoMA 1933-37, 2010 litho ink on vintage tracing cloth

A contemporary approach to ’30s New York architecture…these works have a filmic, dreamy quality.

Weeds II-hires   Claire Sherman Weeds II, 2008  oil on canvas

Love Claire’s paintings and works on paper.  She’s a painter who loves paint – consistently cheap jerseys excellent work. Young, underexposed and still affordable.

drawings – Eliasson uses circles and ellipses cheap nba jerseys to suggest virtual space
and movement…
